The BR123 is a simple bracket which is designed to be mounted using the same screws that retain your PCI/AGP cards. The bracket has slots to allow positional adjustment of a fan so that airflow is directed across the heatsink(s) on your PCI card(s), video card(s), or CPU heatsink, giving unbeatable cooling. The BR123 is supplied with a FANFIX1 screw which is used to fasten a fan, and we would recommend any of our ultra-quiet fans as being the best choice for use in combination with the bracket. Additional FANFIX1 screws can be purchased separately so that up to three fans can be mounted on one BR123. The BR123 is exactly the same bracket which is supplied with the Zalman CNPS6000 and CNPS6500 flower coolers. So if you are using one of these coolers on your processor, then an additional fan can be mounted on the same bracket to cool your video card, and there is no need to purchase an additional BR123 bracket. In fact, up to three fans can be mounted on one bracket - for any combination of CPU cooling, video card cooling, or general air circulation. The BR123 (plus fan) is especially useful when you wish to provide additional cooling around the graphics card area.

Zalman's famous 'super flower cooler' makes a surprise re-appearance for 2009. The original design has been updated, made lighter, slicker and with its best pricing ever. It is now a 'one for all sockets' design, meaning the same cooler can be used on your Intel (775) or AMD (AM2/754/939/940) processor. As you would expect, the CNPS7000C operates virtually silently at its minimum fan speed setting, but yet offers excellent cooling. Its 92mm fan is completely enclosed in the heatsink fan arrangement, making the cooler easy to install. It is available in two versions - the CU version is made entirely from copper and gives best cooling albeit at an increased weight and cost. For those who prefer a lighter cooler (especially if the PC will be frequently transported), the ALCU version uses a mixture of aluminium and copper fins, and gives an excellent balance of cooling versus weight and price.

Zalman CNPS7500-CU LED 110mm Super Flower Cooler

Better performance, easier installation! These new additions to the famous Zalman 7000 series give guaranteed cooling satisfaction! They offer slightly improved performance to the CNPS7700 coolers and are smaller, lighter, have blue LED lighting and offer AM2 socket compatibility.

Product differences

The CNPS7500 is offered in two versions - copper (CU) and aluminium/copper hybrid (ALCU). Both coolers are identical except that the CU version is heavier and offers better cooling thanks to the superior conduction of copper versus aluminium. In practice this equates to a lower CPU running temperature of around 3C for a high-end system. If you crave the lowest possible CPU temperature then we suggest you purchase the CU version, but otherwise the ALCU version still offers excellent performance and is less expensive.

Motherboard cooling

As with all Zalman's 7000 series coolers, the unique design of the product allows not only the processor to be cooled, but also its surrounding components as shown on the image below. Important components such as the Northbridge chip, RAM, VGA and FET circuitry receive a good share of the cooler's airflow, which increases their reliability and lifespan.

Compatibility considerations

Due to the smaller size of the CNPS7500 in comparison to the CNPS7700, there are generally very few compatibility issues in terms of clearances with motherboard components. However, please do check the Zalman website before purchase.

PLEASE NOTE: Socket 775-based motherboards will need to be removed from the chassis to be able to install the CNPS7500. The CNPS7500 is incompatible with Athlon XP (socket A, 462) and Pentium 3 (Socket 370).

Installation considerations

The copper version of the CNPS7500 exceeds Intel's suggested maximum heatsink weight, and so care must be taken when transporting a PC with this cooler installed. Neither we nor the manufacturer can be held responsible for any damage to a system or a CPU occurring when a PC is moved with an overweight heatsink in situ. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES must a PC be transported by courier with this heatsink in place. The heatsink must be removed from the CPU before transporting the PC in order to prevent damage.

PLEASE NOTE: Some motherboards have difficulty measuring low fan RPM speeds on coolers such as this one. The problem can sometimes be fixed by updating the motherboard BIOS to the latest version available on the motherboard manufacturer's website. However, with some motherboards, the problem remains. Regardless, this will not affect performance. In addition, some motherboards will not boot if the CPU fan speed cannot be measured, as a safety feature. After rotating the Fan Mate speed control fully clockwise to enable booting, this feature needs to be disabled in the BIOS setup (set 'CPU Fan Detect' or similar to 'Disabled').

Because CPUs are getting hotter and hotter, we have seen heatsinks getting bigger and bigger to cope with the cooling demands. The problem with very large heatsink is that they sometimes can not be used in lower profile chassis where space is at a premium. Zalman have successfully addressed this problem with the CNPS8000A without sacrificing performance.

At only 66 mm tall the CNPS8000A is capable for cooling any CPU it is compatible with. It does this with the aid of four "C" shaped heatpipes that transfer the heat from the copper base to the top edge of the fins. This allows the whole heatsink to be used more efficiently.

Attached above the heatsink is a legendary Zalman 92mm fan and when it is connected to the supplied FANAMTE2 the maximum noise level is 30 dB(A) (32dB(A) without FANMATE2), but running the fan at that noise level will not be necessary for most users. The slowest setting, at just 20 dB(A), will be more than adequate and if you are unsure how loud 20 DB(A) is; you will need to put your ear next to the fan to be able to hear it!

The term "Flower Cooler" has informally been used to describe Zalman's striking designs of processor cooler ever since the original CNPS6000 series was launched in 2001. When Zalman later launched their CNPS7000 series coolers, they changed the heatsink fin configuration to the now-familiar radial flower design which performed better than the CNPS6000 series, and therefore became known as the "Super Flower Cooler".

The Super Flower design has been with us since the CNPS7000 graced our product line back in 2002 and ever since then, Zalman has continued to release improved versions of it. Their latest cooler, the CNPS8700 has brought about a vast improvement in cooling ability through its use of two heatpipes.

Rather than the radial fins being attached directly to the base of the heatsink, the two heatpipes are now attached there instead. They cross over each other and then pass around the circumference of the whole cooler. Before they rejoin the base, the heat generated by the CPU is passed into 87 ultra-thin 0.2mm copper fins. The liquid in the sealed heatpipes gives a much quicker transfer of heat than simply allowing the heat to conduct through a solid block of metal, which is why the fins do not directly contact the base of the cooler as they did in previous Super Flower designs.

Product Differences

The CNPS8700 LED and NT versions are identical apart from the fan connector and the colour of the heatsinks. The LED version has a standard copper finish and is supplied with a 3-pin fan and a FANMATE2 to allow the user to control the fan speed manually. The NT version has a nickel-plated silver finish and is supplied with a 4-pin PWM fan. The fan speed for this cooler is controlled by the PWM function built into the motherboard's BIOS. The fan speed will automatically increase and decrease depending on the temperature of the processor.

Compatibility

The CNPS8700 is compatible with all major socket types. Intel's LGA775 and AMD's socket AM2 and 939 are all catered for. Due to the size of the cooler there must be no motherboard components standing taller than 39mm within a 61.5mm radius of the centre of the CPU. The image below should help explain this.

Zalman have announced the release of their new CNPS9500-AT Aero Flower Cooler. The CNPS9500-AT is virtually the same as the LED version. The main difference is that the AT version is only compatible with Pentium LAG775 systems. This is because the AT is supplied with a PWM fan. A PWM fan is designed to increase and decrease its RPM depending on the temperature of the CPU and BIOS settings.

Just like the LED version the AT version is an exceptional cooler. The primary innovation lies in the patented 'figure of 8' shape bending of the heatpipes. This produces the effect of up to six heatpipes when in actual fact there are only three. The excellent cooling performance and efficiency of the CNPS9500-AT is achieved by the aerodynamically designed ultra-slim heatsink fins and their performance optimised layout. This layout reduces airflow resistance and minimises the weight of the cooler.

To look at the cooler, you would think it is exactly the same as the hugely-successful CNPS9500. But on closer inspection, you will soon notice that the cooler is about 20% bigger! Instead of using a 92mm fan like in the CNPS9500, the CNPS9700 has a huge 110mm fan!

The larger size of the cooler gives both an increase in airflow (due to the fan), and an increase in surface area (due to the fins). In combination, this gives unbeatable cooling performance.

Product Differences

Apart from the obvious colour difference between the LED and NT coolers the only real difference is how the fan is controlled. The LED is supplied with a standard 110mm 3-pin fan and a Fanmate2. The Fanmate is designed to allow the user to change the fan speed at will. The NT version is supplied with a 4-pin PWM fan that needs no manual intervention. The motherboard's BIOS settings determine the fan speed which is based on the temperature of the CPU.

Compatibility

Both coolers are compatible with the same socket types. Intel's socket LGA775, AMD's AM2 and 939 are all supported.

The larger size of the cooler gives both an increase in airflow (due to the fan), and an increase in surface area (due to the fins). In combination, this gives unbeatable cooling performance.

Product Differences

Apart from the obvious colour difference between the LED and NT coolers the only real difference is how the fan is controlled. The LED is supplied with a standard 110mm 3-pin fan and a Fanmate2. The Fanmate is designed to allow the user to change the fan speed at will. The NT version is supplied with a 4-pin PWM fan that needs no manual intervention. The motherboard's BIOS settings determine the fan speed which is based on the temperature of the CPU.

Compatibility

Both coolers are compatible with the same socket types. Intel's socket LGA775, AMD's AM2 and 939 are all supported.

The BR123 is a simple bracket which is designed to be mounted using the same screws that retain your PCI/AGP cards. The bracket has slots to allow positional adjustment of a fan so that airflow is directed across the heatsink(s) on your PCI card(s), video card(s), or CPU heatsink, giving unbeatable cooling. The BR123 is supplied with a FANFIX1 screw which is used to fasten a fan, and we would recommend any of our ultra-quiet fans as being the best choice for use in combination with the bracket. Additional FANFIX1 screws can be purchased separately so that up to three fans can be mounted on one BR123. The BR123 is exactly the same bracket which is supplied with the Zalman CNPS6000 and CNPS6500 flower coolers. Zalman FANMATE 2 Variable Fan Speed Controller

The FANMATE 2 product is included with the many of Zalman's CPU coolers and the feedback has been so good that we are now offering it separately for customers who wish to use it with other fans. The FANMATE 2 is connected in-line with an existing fan and allows infinite control over the speed at which the fan runs. Where a fan is making a lot of noise due to excessive airflow, this can be reduced in a controlled manner, until such point as the noise becomes minimal and the airflow still adequate. The silencing effect of reducing the speed of a fan even by a small amount can be very surprising!

The FANMATE 2 has a small rotary knob which can be turned in either direction, to raise or lower the fan speed. Once you are happy with the noise/airflow setting, just leave the knob set in its position and your installation is finished. The best approach is to start with the FANMATE 2 at its minimum speed setting ("silent mode") and then increase the speed if more airflow is required.

Rather than using a simple rheostat (variable resistor) arrangement, the FANMATE 2 uses a high quality variable voltage regulator circuit which will not wear out or run excessively hot. Full instructions are supplied, and installation is very easy as can be seen in the diagram below. The product is intended to be used primarily with case fans, and you may be surprised how reducing the speed of a case fan (even slightly) can have a very large effect on noise output, with only a minimal effect on airflow. Of course the best approach is to use fans which are quiet to begin with, but if this is not possible, the FANMATE 2 will provide a very satisfactory alternative in your quest to reduce noise.

Although using the FANMATE 2 in conjunction with the fan on a CPU cooler is certainly possible, you would need to be careful to ensure that the processor does not get too hot due to inadequate airflow. If you have a CPU heatsink which is thermally inefficient in its design, then its manufacturer may have compensated for this shortcoming by providing it with a high-flow high-noise fan, usually because fast fans are cheaper than good heatsink designs! Using the FANMATE 2 in this scenario is not a good idea, and if budget allows, we would always recommend replacing the whole CPU cooler with one of the coolers we sell. This will guarantee safe cooling with the minimum possible noise level.

The first thing you will notice is that the new XT-PLUS version has a 7" LCD Touchscreen on the front of the chassis. Once set up, the LCD screen can display much more information than any VFD. As indicated by the name of the product, the HD160XT-PLUS is 160mm tall and therefore it is the same height as the standard HD160. There is a grille at the side of the chassis to allow a 120mm-fanned PSU to bring cool air in from the outside of the chassis. The case is also equipped with two 80mm exhaust fans that expel the warm air out of the case. To counter this there are another two fans that bring in cooler air into the chassis. One fan is provides cooler air directly to the installed hard drives while the other is attached to the floor of the case and therefore brings in cool air from underneath. The case can also accommodate Zalman's CPU and VGA coolers: the CNPS9500 CPU coolers and the VF1000 VGA coolers are both compatible. Unfortunately the larger CNPS9700 CPU cooler is not compatible because it is too tall! When it comes to selecting a suitable optical drive it is important to choose one that fits! It has come to our attention that not all optical drives will fit inside the HD160XT-PLUS. The issue lies with the bezel that attached to the front of the CD tray. Zalman have indicated that LG optical drives work well as does the Samsung SATA DVD Writer we currently stock, therefore we highly recommend one of these drives. Optical drives to avoid currently only include Pioneer.

The LCD monitor really makes this product stand out from the crowd. As mentioned above it can be used as an indicator that shows various information and activities. It can also be used as a second monitor or even a sole monitor, for a completely self-contained PC.

The HD500 series can accommodate Micro ATX as well as Standard ATX motherboards. This makes it possible to install high performance components without having to worry if a large CPU cooler or graphics card will fit. The cases are compatible with coolers no taller than 125mm. Finally, with the HD500 series you can install long PSUs due to the extra space.

Side Ventilation for Intensified Cooling Performance

One of the down sides to HTPC case is the fact they can become quite warm due to the size of the chassis'. Zalman have helped to solve this problem by incorporating many ventilation holes. At the rear and the left side of the case you will find that there are two 80mm fans and 120mm fan. These fans are designed to extract the hot air generated inside the chassis. The intake fan is also 120mm which blows the cooler air from outside the chassis over the HDDs. PLEASE NOTE: The case is only supplied with two 80mm fans. The 120mm fans need to be purchased separately, if required.

Tool-Free HDD Installation

Up to three 3.5" hard drives can be installed into the HD500 series, without any tools! This provides easy access to any of the drives. Also, each drive bay features anti-vibration rubber dampers - to help keep the noise away.

Hot-swappable HDD Support

Both the HD501 and the 503 have the facility for one hot-swappable 3.5" hard drive to be installed. This hard drive is installed into a 5.25" drive bay rather than a 3.5". As you would expect the HDD is mounted on anti-vibrational rubber screws. The hot-swappable HDD is accessed by lowering the bottom flap.SD (Solid State Drive) Compatible

Zalman RC100 (5V) Noiseless Resistor Cable

These small resistors convert 3-pin fans from 12 volts to approximately 7 volts (RC56) and 5 volts (RC100). This basically means it reduces the speed of your 3-pin fan, which in turn reduces the noise the fan makes. We tested the RC56 resistor with a 92mm fan and without the resistor installed the fan ran at 2700 RPM. Once the resistor was installed the fan ran around 1400 RPM. The reduction in noise was significant. The RC100 would reduce the speed of the fan to around 1100 RPM, making the fan even quieter! Installation considerations Fitting the resistor is very straightforward. Just plug the 3-pin fan into one end of the resistor and then the other end connects directly to your motherboard. If you have both RC56 and RC100 resistors in your collection of computer parts and you are not the world's leading expert in decoding resistor colour codes, you can easily tell which product is which by measuring their lengths. These small resistors convert 3-pin fans from 12 volts to approximately 7 volts (RC56) and 5 volts (RC100). This basically means it reduces the speed of your 3-pin fan, which in turn reduces the noise the fan makes. We tested the RC56 resistor with a 92mm fan and without the resistor installed the fan ran at 2700 RPM. Once the resistor was installed the fan ran around 1400 RPM. The reduction in noise was significant. The RC100 would reduce the speed of the fan to around 1100 RPM, making the fan even quieter! Installation considerations Fitting the resistor is very straightforward. Just plug the 3-pin fan into one end of the resistor and then the other end connects directly to your motherboard. If you have both RC56 and RC100 resistors in your collection of computer parts and you are not the world's leading expert in decoding resistor colour codes, you can easily tell which product is which by measuring their lengths. The GV1000 and VF1000-LED are compatible with virtually all video cards which have original heatsink mounting holes around their GPU. However, they are not compatible with any Matrox card, ATI's Radeon 9550/9600, nVidia's PCX 5 series, GeForce 7000 AGP and 6000 AGP series.

To provide compatibility with nVidia's 8800 series cards, Zalman have designed a RAM heatsink which cools the memory, FETs and I/O chipsets found on the 8800 GTS*/GTX/ULTRA series. The ZM-RHS88 is available separately and is designed specifically as a supplementary product to the GV1000 and VF1000-LED to enable GeForce 8800 compatibility. It is not compatible with any other VGA cooler. The ZM-RHS88 is not compatible with the 8800 GT series.

If you intend to use either of these coolers in a SLI or Crossfire configuration then you need will require a flexible bridge, because the heatpipes will obstruct the none-flexible type.

Zalman newest fanless VGA cooler, the VNF100 is an improvement on the ZM80D-HP, which has been around for many years. As well as an improvement in performance, installation is far easier.

The way the cooler works is very simple. Three heatpipes transfer the heat from the GPU to at back of the graphics card where blue anodized aluminium fins dissipate the heat naturally. The aluminium fins are only 0.4mm wide, this makes the cooler lighter, than some alternatives which in turn puts less stress on the graphics card.

As mentioned before installation is very easy. Once the old cooler has been removed from the graphics card the provided instructions will guide you through the installation process. To see how easy it is, just have a look at the animated installation video below.

New from Zalman, we are proud to present an unusual but very effective product which not only quietens your hard drive, but makes it run cooler too! The ZM2-HC2 builds on Zalman's heatpipe technology first seen in their video card heatsinks, and now applied to the cooling of a hard drive. The product consists of two aluminium bars which are screwed to the sides of a hard drive. Each bar is split in half and between each half are clamped eleven separate chrome-plated copper heat pipes, which link each side of the drive. As the drive gets hotter, heat is transferred to the liquid in the heatpipes, which vaporises and rises up the pipe where it cools, condenses, and runs back down to the drive again. This process ensures that heat is constantly being drawn away from the hard drive, much more effectively than any passive heatsink could manage. The process is completely silent, and in addition to its cooling properties, the heatpipe cooler assists in reducing the noise of the hard drive through its rubber-damped drive mountings which ensure that vibrational noise from the drive is not transmitted into the chassis. This significantly cuts down on the 'rumbling' and 'clicking' noises which are very common in hard drives. Zalman's Anti-Corrosion Coolant is designed to prevent corrosion in materials such as copper and aluminium. This provides peace of mind for long term operation. It is to be used in conjunction with distilled water only! Please note that this product supersedes Zalman's previous coolant, the ZM-G100. The main difference between the two products is that the new version is based on propylene glycol rather than ethylene glycol. Propylene glycol offers the advantage of being virtually odourless. The ZM-G200 is an ideal choice for any water cooling system, whether it be one of Zalman's own Reserator systems, or a water cooling product from another manufacturer. Please note that if you are thinking of purchasing a Zalman Reserator, there is no need to buy a bottle of ZM-G200, (unless you require a spare) because one is already included in the Reserator kit. If you have been looking at the specification for the Zalman Reserator 2, you may be wondering what the ZM-G300 is. In fact the ZM-G300 is exactly the same coolant as the ZM-G200, but the bottle contains only half the amount. Because the Reserator 2 is more compact than the Reserator 1 series, it requires less coolant. Zalman do not sell the ZM-G300 as a separate item because the ZM-G200 can be used instead.
