Many of the new generation of power supply units are being manufactured with all SATA power connections instead of the traditional 5.25 inch molex power connections. This adapter allows a device fitted with a 5.25 inch molex power plug to be powered from a SATA power supply connection.This adapter can also be used in conjunction with power PCI express power adapters to enable PCI express graphics cards to be power from all SATA PSUs.

This adapter allows any IDE or EIDE hard drive to be connected to a SATA controller. The bridging board is designed to connect directly to the back of the drive and supports hard drives both larger than and smaller than 137GB. It conforms to both serial ATA 1.0 specifications (revision 2.2) and PCI IDE controller specifications (revision 1.0). It is supplied with a 3.5 to 5.25 inch power adapter to power the converter from a standard internal 5.25 inch power connector.
